In Greene County district court Michelle Denise Rader Smith, 43, of Jamaica was sentenced Oct. 10 to two days in jail after she changed her plea to guilty to a charge of operating while intoxicated (OWI)-first offense. She was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 surcharge for drug abuse resistance education (DARE). She must also pay sheriff’s fees to be determined, as well as complete a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at her own expense and complete a community college drinking driver’s school. She must pay $120 restitution for her court appointed attorney’s fees and $100 court costs. (Sentencing: Honorable Adria A. Kester)
Thomas Michael Launderville, 34, of Grand Junction was sentenced to two days in jail after he changed his plea to guilty to a charge of (OWI)-first offense. He was fined $1,250 with a $437.50 surcharge and a $10 DARE surcharge. He must also pay sheriff’s fees to be determined, as well as complete a substance abuse evaluation and complete any recommended treatment at his own expense and complete a community college drinking driver’s school. Anthony Charles Kennedy, 32, of Jefferson was fined $100 with a $35 surcharge after he pleaded guilty in magistrate court to a charge of trespass. He must also pay $60 restitution for his court appointed attorney’s fees and $121.50 court costs. He was initially charged in district court with attempted burglary-second degree. The charge was amended to harassment-simple, criminal mischief and trespass. The charges of harassment and criminal mischief were dismissed. (Magistrate Rita Pedersen)
Donald Duane Daniel pleaded not guilty at arraignment Oct. 14 to a charge of assault causing serious injury. A trial date was set for Dec. 16.
Cases were initiated in district court against Steven Logan Dzuris, 26, of Jefferson on a charge of possession of methamphetamine, and against Shannon Marie Osterson, 35, of Jefferson on a charge of harassment-first degree.
